Residential Camp Description
The Soccer Academies, located at Dartmouth College, offer a unique opportunity for players to develop their skills in a challenging and fun environment. Residential soccer camps at Dartmouth have been active for more than 16 years and attract players and coaches from across the United States and from all over the world! We believe that a residential soccer camp experience should feature the highest quality in coaching, facilities and curriculum. College recruiting is part of the process, but we feel that players should benefit from a positive, enjoyable experience, and should go away from our camp session a better player and excited about the world's greatest game!
Under the direction of the Dartmouth College Men's Head Coach Jeff Cook and Women's Head Coach Angie Hind, the residential sessions are designed to allow players to improve their individual skills as well as their understanding of the tactical aspects of the game of soccer. The players at the camp are also exposed to topics such as the college recruiting process, health and nutrition, fitness for soccer and the latest in sports psychology as it applies to soccer performance. Every player is presented with an evaluation at the end of the week that can be used during their college search as well as a guide for their continued soccer development. A copy of this evaluation is kept on file at the camp office so that the coaches may refer back to them when asked to provide a reference.
The two areas distinguishing Soccer Academies at Dartmouth College are the design of the curriculum and the quality of the coaches that are employed at the camps. During each session the boys and girls are divided into teams of 16 players. Each team is led through training sessions and games by a head coach and at least one counselor who is typically a member of the men's or women's team at Dartmouth. Coach Cook, Coach Hind, and the entire Dartmouth soccer coaching staff are on the fields for all camp activities. Prior to each session, Dartmouth College players demonstrate proper technique and concepts. Goalkeepers will have the opportunity to train with qualified instructors to improve technical and tactical awareness, and will receive feedback on their game performance to highlight strengths and weaknesses.
Our coaching staff is unrivaled at any camp across the United States. Many staff members have been working Soccer Academies camp sessions for several years and have vast and diverse experience in the game of soccer. A list of the coaches that have assisted at our camps in previous years are:
